I am a proud supporter and advocate, believing in mass communication and sharing good will! Working alone with one group can never reach the masses. The support the Volunteer Fire Service gave me and many others during Haiyan with their reach ensured that the donations we were able to collect in Manila and packed got to where they were most needed in the shortest possible time. A year on from the worst Typhoon to hit Mother earth many towns, families and children are still in temporary accommodation, make shift and tents, schools and classrooms and live day to day hoping that they get through this typhoon season. It was a daunting task last year, the support was so immense and the logistical challenge was overwhelming, having the Fire Service and especially Jay Palomo at the end of a phone line to liaise with was amazing; My biggest and most memorable memory, well I have 2 ( actually too many to mention )... 2am inside Malacanan Palace unloading a shit load of goods on day 2 which was then put on the Presidential Plane and delivered to Tacloban when all other transportation routes were closed, blocked or just destroyed...And all thanks to these guys... Then 4am at my home, the largest fire truck emptying its water onto the village flowers which by then needed it! so that we could load heavier goods... I hope in my lifetime we never have to experience something so devastating to so many islands, communities and families at the same time. Yes we live in a country that experiences typhoons and storms through the rainy season. These are usually more localised and easier to support but Super Typhoon Haiyan covered such a huge landmass, islands which were so difficult to support. I am a proud supporter, please share the wonderful work these guys do! Would I do it all over again, of course!
