I am a running for President Elect of AANP. I do this because I have a great love for the organization and its members. I have been an active member since 1996 starting as a student conference assistant, state representative and Region 7 Director. In the past 16 years I have practiced as an FNP in multiple settings, Primary Care, Emergency Departments and Rural Critical Access Hospitals. I have practiced in a state with barrier free practice and one with collaborative agreements so have a good understanding of the difficulties many NPs contend with in their daily practice. As faculty as University of Nebraska Medical Center, I researched FNP roles in rural hospitals and currently have two HRSA grants that promote education of FNPs working in rural hospitals and emergency rooms. The goal of these programs are to improve quality of care and patient access in medically underserved areas. I have served as President of State and National organizations. Nurse Practitioners provide tremendous health care services to our patients; our voice should be recognized and respected. We can only expand our abilities to provide care to our patients if we have a strong National organization that has an effective communication network with its members and state organizations. I am committed to our profession and believe that I can be an effective leader for AANP. Voting opens tomorrow, March 17 and concludes on March 31. I encourage you to participate in the election and I am asking for you to support my candidacy with your vote. Thank you Kathy Morris, DNP, FNP-C, APRN, FAANP
