I am a teacher and I protect children. Its my fight! I want you all to know that if your child ran out of time this week, He/she WILL ONLY score a 1 at best 2 on the ELA. But NO higher (even if they rock in math or English) your child according to the data, DOES NOT! FYI. Your children will go on to the next grade....sure. But he/she will be forced into remediation for the next school year. (Even if you think they dont need it.)They will be pulled for AIS. AND guess what???? YOU as a parent cannot refuse the pull out because your child according to the test isnt making the cut. (My child wont have to go Because he REFUSED THE TEST) The test that none of us will ever know what your child actually needs help with IN THE FIRST PLACE! (NYS teachers never see the answers or are told what areas students failed (or probably couldnt finish) To the parents who though this meant NOTHING, you are going to be real annoyed when you find out that your child will have state Mandated extra help,possibly 4 times a week if they score low on both. But you all will think that the money will come from the Race to the Top reward! The west babylon school district received a TOTAL less than $48,000 over 4 years .. Sheesh! Guess whos paying? The taxpayers. Schools will lose extracurricular activities when so many will need unnecessary help. Again. I am a teacher and I protect children
