I am a third generation Adventist and very conservative on matters - TopicsExpress

I am a third generation Adventist and very conservative on matters of church practice for that matter. The congregation where Iam a member in this foreign land has 10 elders of which four are women one of them is second elder. This is very unsettling to me as a very conservative Adventist. When Paul advised that a church elder should, among other attributes, have only one wife I think he just meant that. Was there a room for a female elder? I don’t know. Back in Malawi, the church where I was one of the elders, no one would even dare to suggest having a female elder. At the time of my leaving, the mere thought of sharing a pulpit with a woman was still a source of consternation among some elders and men. I think my conservatism is being put to extreme test here. Can Bright Malopa, Samuel Senzani and Kudonda Nseula reign on this matter? Happy Sabbath.
