I am a vegan and I still think meat smells good and would taste - TopicsExpress

I am a vegan and I still think meat smells good and would taste just as good as it used to. People often think that vegos and vegans hate or are disgusted by the smell or taste of meat, dairy or eggs. For some this may be the case. For me it has never been so. Before I became a lacto/ovo vego 10 yrs ago I used to eat meat in every meal. 500g steak for breakfast (with a cigi and can if V), pies for lunch, chicken and fish for dinner.... Almost every day of the wk. I was a self confessed lover of dead animal and if there was a way to get that taste and texture without causing the suffering and death, Id be straight back on it. But lets be honest, there is not! (excluding fake meats, which I enjoy). So is it acceptable to continue to eat because of flavour preferences? IMO... No. I can still say I think meat would taste great, but then again donuts, chocolate and hot chips all taste great too, flavour is not a respectable or viable reason for continuing to eat something. Especially with the consequences associated with doing so. Things to consider health, ecological, sustainability and ethical/moral out comes. Oh and the fact that you are contributing to mass murder of innocent sentient beings. My reason for stopping? Simple - love for animals with no bias based on cultural conditioning. Feeling compassion, a need to end their suffering I choose to take the most simple action of all, non participation. Its not that hard, but it does matter and it does make a difference.
