I am a very grateful man. Long ago, a very wise man said to me, “The difference between me and that guy face down in the gutter is seconds and inches”. I heard that over 30 years ago and have never forgotten it. The message was very layered for me. I understand the truth that so much in my life had been good luck, or the right voice or support or direction given by a well meaning friend at exactly the right time (usually when someone saw me about to do something extremely dangerous). Also, I’m in no position to judge the actions or circumstances of anyone else. It is a fragile grip we have on this life, and I promise to try my best to honor the gift I have been given; to live in the world with you. There is one caveat. For those who feel differently, I respect your position. I do not require a consensus to feel the way I do, nor do I feel that my take on life is better than anyone elses. Sometimes, I am forced to accept the decisions of others that may seem tragic or unnecessary, but my acceptance is inevitable because my approval or lack thereof is irrelevant. Love, E
