I am afraid that my old cat is on the downhill slide. She came with the property and was an old lady when I moved in, I called her Cat for lack of a better name, but she quickly became a beloved member of the family. Part of accepting animals into our hearts is the knowledge that they will probably go before we do. I made a pledge to her, that when she is ready to go, I will not prolong the inevitable and will help make the passing as painless as possible. For now, she is still happy and comfortable, but is clearly starting to have mobility problems. I am content knowing that her life has been a good one and will continue to be until the end, whenever she tells me she is ready for it.
