I am again teaching a class for the Osher Lifelong Learning - TopicsExpress

I am again teaching a class for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UTEP after taking a year off to work on my MOOC for Rice University. Over the next six weeks I’ll be teaching a class on Gustav Mahler, who, on balance, is my favorite composer of orchestral music. (I don’t want to overstate it, but I find nothing less than the meaning of life in Mahler’s music.) In this week’s class my students went over a list of what to listen for in Mahler’s music. The 15 items on the list included lots of academic and technical stuff that ended with this item: “You will hear some of the most astonishingly beautiful music ever composed.” I couldn’t agree more. Thanks to Ian Wilson, Ann Mortimore, and the great volunteers at OLLI who make teaching in their program such a pleasure. youtu.be/9v1dffCkd5I
