I am all for kids trying out for sports in jr/sr high, but every child who goes into those tryouts should know there is a possibility that they will not make the team. The mother even admitted that the coaching staff said he was having problems learning the plays. I understand he has Aspergers, but in no way does that mean he should automatically make the team. Is this mother going to pay to have another coach on the staff who only helps her son, or will the rest of the students be punished because they have to use one of the current coaches just for her son. And If he is not understanding the plays now, what makes her assume that he will understand them come time for a real game? If he doesnt know the plays and gets put in the game to keep mom from complaining and ends up getting injured is she going to say that her son didnt know the plays well enough to be in the game? what happens when she goes after the school because he was injured. She also made the asinine remark When they ask what extracurricular activities did you do in high school, and my son has to say I didnt do any because they wouldnt let me play football. Extracurricular activities consist of so much more than just football. Im sure there are other clubs and volunteer opportunities for him. We live in a time where everyone has to be a winner. Its time to teach kids how to lose, and how to handle a loss properly. You cant always get what you want.
