I am already seeing concerns expressed over they way that some stores are going to be dealing with VAT at checkout. It seems there may be some misunderstandings and I hope they can be cleared up quickly! Locally I heard a story that indicated confusion - recognizing that the price of the product on the shelf already includes VAT added to it, the clerk didnt know whether she was supposed to add VAT to that price or not. I am also concerned that merchants will charge their mark-ups on the cost of the item and VAT... if I remember correctly you are not allowed to charge mark-ups on VAT.
