The drivers of buses that transport Brazilians to and from Lethem would inform the traffic policemen and also Immigration Officers who work at the Kurupukuri and Iwokrama check points. They would single out the Brazilian visitors, mostly visitors that have entered Guyana legally, and they would demand bribe.... This also happens at Mabura Outpost, road blocks set up by Linden police, police on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, East Bank ... and throughout the journey from Lethem to Georgetown... I witnessed this firsthand during my recent journey from Georgetown to Lethem and back by bus.....
