I am always humbled when we work in the lower income areas. The children are so happy, they love to talk with us and laugh at my attempt to speak spanish with them. Every door we knock on is decorated with religious pictures. Last night, I noticed when we got inside the most beautiful shrine of religious artifacts with a baby girl laying in a crib. I mentioned how beautiful it was, as I peered closer to take in all of the candles, crosses, and the patron of saints. The mother explained to me that her 8 year old daughter has brain cancer and that this shrine was made especially for her. Then her daughter appeared from the other room, with the biggest smile and came over and hugged me so tight. Praying for her recovery, and for that priceless smile to never fade.
