I am amazed (but not impressed) by the wishful thinking held by many East Malaysians (more so with Sarawakians because they dont have UMNO there) that their states can remain a paradise of inter-ethnic harmony even if Malaya sinks into total chaos and disaster. They must have thought that South China Sea is as wide as the Pacific Ocean or the ethno-religious bigots do not travel. Well, the non-Jews, the non-communists, the non-trade-unionists and the Protestants in Nazi Germany once thought similarly that their world would remain a safe heaven when others crumpled. The tragedy of history is humans never learn from others sufferings that they have to get their own finger burned before fearing fire. All the best, people in paradises. Enjoy your time there.
