I am an Artistic Project Manager for an NEA project called OUR TOWN in Watts. I come from BOYLE HEIGHTS and am fixing up my family home there. Also I am on the Board at CASA0101 on 1st Street and I am interested in ART projects that are STEAM based S(cience)T(ethnology)E(engineering)A(rt) &M(ath). The Chicano community has always been resourceful. Our Mexican ingenuity has helped give us a unique resilient attitude about making things work without a lot of money. Currently there is exercise equipment in the parks, I would like to advocate the idea that we use that equipment to CREATE KINETIC SCULPTURES LIKE Cantinflas tipping his hat, etc. and that we HARVEST the energy from these moving sculptures to charge our phones, batteries, etc. So when the next Big disaster hits we have a back up for energy, to boil water, make ice, and filter water.
