I am an idiot. Dont want to get into details, but I made an accounting mistake in terms of projecting how much money would be in the Strengthen Orlando, Inc.-Kevin Tyjeski City Planning Scholarship Fund at the end of the year. We established the scholarship fund in honor of Kevin, who passed away just less than 2 years ago. The fund supports students pursuing a masters degree in city planning. I projected that by the end of 2014 we would be about $300 to $400 away from the magic $25,000 needed for an endowment at UCF, and that my Crazy Weight Loss Fundraiser would take us over the top. But, because I didnt fully understand the accounting process associated with the City of Orlandos Work Place Giving program, were currently at $23,200. Even with my fundraiser bringing in around $1200 to $1400 by the end of January, well still be short of the magic number. Anyway, Im feeling really stupid right now, and worse, I feel like Ive let my friend Kevin down. I know intellectually thats not true, but I cant help how I feel. Sorry, buddy. Well get there. It might take longer than I hoped, but well get there.
