I am angry, sad, hurt, depressed, confused, feeling hopeless/helpless! But, I will pray to di goi and know what is asked for will be heard and answered in a way that is best for today, tomorrow and the future. I feel our Tribal Court is an OPPRESSIVE tool used by a certain few to keep us in constant fear, uncertainty, disrespected and feeling constant turmoil. Is that the way for Washo families to live? HELL NO !! The blame goes directly to those we have chosen to represent us and have failed everyone. They have earned a new name and I anoint them, WASHOE TRIBAL CLOWNCIL. I know my concerns will be disregarded as a disgruntled troublemaker, oh yeah, dont forget crazy. I found out yesterday that as a Defendant in Tribal Court we do not have the right to call Washoe Tribal Employees as witnesses. That means ALL employees. Apparently, Tribal employees can say anything about us but we do not have the right to confront them in OUR court. Judge K. said this was enacted several years ago in a meeting with Lynell Hartway, the Judge, Prosecutor, Attorneys - but none of us ignorant Washoe members. I dont know about all of you but I am sick of being OPPRESSED by our own. Another atrocity recently has come to light, at one time 21, I repeat, 21 of our children were in Douglas Countys Austins House!!! The ICWA is a nationwide law that says Indian children must be placed with family in removal situations. If it can get worse, our incompetent Social Services department has LOST TWO CHILDREN, LIKE, THEY DO NOT KNOW THE WHEREABOUTS OF THESE CHILDREN. WAKE UP, WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND DEMAND ANSWERS. 265-1368
