I am announcing my candidacy for Commissioner of the Arlington - TopicsExpress

I am announcing my candidacy for Commissioner of the Arlington Fire District. My plan is to reduce the tax burden and work with the full board of commissioners to protect the community. It takes three votes to pass an item. Every line item needs to be reviewed thoroughly. I will employ due diligence to review privatizing the ambulance service. Commissioners have to look at the bottom line, as well as the safety aspects of such a decision. How will a change in service affect response times, home owner’s insurance, will we get EMTs in place of paramedics? It is my responsibility to look at all aspects of the function of the fire district for the community. I attended several meetings this year with Commissioners Berretta and Dore, Chief Gallante and others to discuss the best process to use the SAFER Grant money AFD received for recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters. We are looking forward to positive results. My passion for many years has been giving back to the community through volunteering. I volunteer for the Rochdale Fire Company, the Ryan McElroy Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association and Walkway Over the Hudson. I will bring respect and integrity to the position. I am dedicated to doing the best job I can for the community at large. The election is December 10, from 3p-9p. Wards 3, 4 and 6 vote at 11 Burnett Blvd. Wards 1, 2 and 5 vote at 213 Vassar Road. Thank you, Tom Bauer.
