I am at home now and slowly progressing with my back pain. I had a dream last night that was one of the most vivid ones that I can remember and I need to write about it. The setting was the Philippines or Thailand and it was a beautiful November day. I was with Tim Noonan, Mike Gleyze, Wayne Lau, and Teresa Henry. We were driving through the countryside when we pulled up to a softball field/party venue. There were many others of the Hong Kong Slow Pitch Softball leaguers there is well - from the past and present. American Club members: Mike Reiner, Jill Reiner, Larry Paul Sloven, Lisa Goldsmith Kasten, Walter E. Archie, Stephen Diao, their children who are now in their 20s, etcm were also present. Ross Mathews, Charlie Wellens, Vince Zaleski, Jon Potter, Tom Doud, John Kelly, James Grandolfo, etc. I am in my current state of Leukemia with some back pain but I can walk around. There is a game happening and I see ex-pat kids with uniforms on like it was a weekend away and they also had a tournament somewhere nearby. Noonan asks me if I want to hit, I was like Sure! What seemed like an hour in my dream looking for a bat - there were bats that were bent, split in two, too short, too long, whatever a dream can do to a bat. The crowd was getting restless as I guess as were the guys on base because it was taking so long, that I finally grabbed the microphone nearby and screamed Do any of you ASSHOLES, have a bat that I can use??!! At that moment, the entire congregation of people jumped into the chorus of Cant Take My Eyes Off of You by the 4 Seasons. Needless to say, I ran with it, and finished the song better than the wedding scene of the DEER HUNTER! It woke me up at that point and I still dont know if I ever got to swing a bat and do my best Kirk Gibson. It was so vivid and real and then I woke up at 2:00 in the morning with a huge smile on my face. For those of you who dont know, I spent 5 years in Hong Kong from 1997-2002 and built enormous friendships there with a wonderful group of people that I hold very dear. I also had a ball! Next up, waiting on a clinical trial spot for me and I should know more tomorrow. All the best!
