I am at my wits end.. Everyone else is expressing their opinions so i might as well jump on the bandwagon!!!!..As a VERY involved parent in 2 out of 3 schools... I can honestly say that the teachers have put your kids before themselves for the last 2 years.. At some point you have to start putting your family first..I think the most amusing thing Ive noticed about all of the comments Ive been reading is that this situation has been affecting the teachers and their families for going on three years now.. But just because it has affected your family for 1 day you all of a sudden have an opinion on it...just saying...this isnt the first time that we have heard about the problem ...but no one cared to come up with a solution to the districts financial status until it started impacting your own financial status. This strike was not the DESIRED outcome of ANYONE....the strike is the outcome of years of mismanaged funds. Does anyone have any answers as to why are taxes are so high yet alot of are sports are housed in a building that is run down with broken glass.. Or why the high school locker rooms have no doors on the bathroom stalls or why there is not enough desks for students or why there had to be garbage cans in the hallways at Logan and green valley because the ceilings were leaking?? The conditions of our buildings are horrible yet we keep hiring more personnel and let current problems go unresolved... I cant afford to pay more taxes either...and I want my kids to go back to school too...But things in this district have to change. This goes way beyond salaries and benefits.. It is about making the district accountable for their spending and actions and Im glad we have teachers that whether they live here or not are willing to stand up for what they know our kids deserve
