I am atheist and totally supportive of gay equal rights, I am very happy that gay ppl can now get married if they want to, but still a business surely has the right to refuse business for any reason and even without giving a reason, doesnt it? I thought this was the law? I think they are bigoted and wrong personally but hey ho the bakers are the ones losing business and shooting themselves in the foot and making themselves look bad to a lot of ppl.. they still have to be free to believe what they want even if a lot of us do not like what they believe.. so I would have said (if they were some of my gay friends who did this) just leave them alone and let them lose business.. and for the record I know there are lots of vegan cake bakers who I am sure would be mostly happy to support gay rights (MOST vegans I know are very progressive on such issues) so I would urge everyone gay or straight or in between to get VEGAN cakes so nobody gets hurt! I am concerned that some ppl would bother to sue a business over this kind of thing.. surely the common sense thing is just go elsewhere where a bakery is OK with the order and spread the word about this business being against gay equality, and leave it at that? Suing just seems really spiteful against them just for having a different viewpoint! Sometimes I find liberals are quite illiberal and they dont really practice tolerance with those they disagree with, even when no serious harm is done.. as in this case.. always considered myself liberal and tolerant but confused as hell how I seem to define it differently from many others who claim to be that way.. See how I managed to shoehorn veganism in there somehow on a non-vegan related post lol? I just cant help it can I?
