I am baffled. This widely circulated chart says These Corporations Control Almost Everything You Buy.... Really? What a twisted mischaracterization. A far more accurate headline would have been These companies make a lot of products people choose to buy because they like them and they make their lives better. And that is newsworthy how? Its like these companies are involved in a giant conspiracy trying to pull one over on us by marketing products under different brands? Really? Ive known about different brands since I was 5. But even if people dont know, who cares? (Maybe instead of Armani suits it would be more honest to call them Nestle suits?) Is the point that when companies genuinely offer a quality product that improves peoples lives they grow large and successful? Well then how should it work? Companies that make crappier products should be rewarded? Well, then vote with your wallet and start buying the crappiest products you can find. Have fun. I think if whatever spoiled, lazy, deluded kid made this graphic were to put down his Coke, put on his Levi jeans and charge up his iPhone, and take a tour of rural India or China, subsaharan Africa, Russia or many other places on this planet, they would return with a newfound appreciation and gratitude of the wonderful array of high quality, inexpensive products available that we all take for granted thanks to the still mostly capitalist, free market in the USA (fighting to survive, though under vicious attack from all sides).
