I am becoming a bit concerned this afternoon about the storm that is currently sitting pretty in south-central South Dakota. The high resolution model, the HRRR, is suggesting this grows upscale into a larger complex of storms this afternoon just west of the MN/SD border. From there, it suggests this system becomes a well-defined bow echo type system with the potential for widespread severe weather. Should this come to fruition, the most likely time-frame for this to occur would be between 5pm - 9pm across the western half of the area, and 8pm - midnight across the eastern half of the area. I will continue to monitor this development this afternoon, but I cannot promise I will be able to update on here. So keep your eye to the sky, folks!
