I am beginning a series of posts that I will call The Allure of Sin. In it I will be discussing the appeal of sin and why it is so easily taken, digested, and accepted. For now lets look at the definition of Allure. al·lure əˈlo͝or/ noun 1. the quality of being powerfully and mysteriously attractive or fascinating. Ex: people for whom gold holds no allure synonyms: attraction, lure, draw, pull, appeal, allurement, enticement, temptation, charm, seduction, fascination Ex: the allure of Paris verb 1. powerfully attract or charm; tempt. synonyms: attract, lure, entice, tempt, appeal to, captivate, draw, win over, charm, seduce, inveigle, beguile, fascinate, whet the appetite of, make someones mouth water Notice the synonyms that are repeated in both grammatical formats (Noun & Verb) of the word: Tempt Seduce Entice Attract Draw Charm Fascinate All of these stick out, but the one synonym that sticks out to me the most that is almost covered by the others and easily overlooked is Pull. It isnt repeated, and it is so easily forgotten after reading the others you wouldnt even think of going back up to look at it. It doesnt stand out as a word by itself, but when connected synonymously with Allure it is like a gigantic red flag. More on this in another post. :-)
