I am both a veteran and a senior with an HMO. I use the John Pettis Loma Linda VA facility in Southern California. My experiences there have been great. Other than having to wait at the Pharmacy or at the Laboratory everything is great. I was admitted once in emergency. After my admission the care was excellent in ICU and also afterwards. I feel very fortunate to have this facility for my VA care. Getting appointments has not been a problem either. Once they are aware of a problem I have they make an appointment with the appropriate department. Sometimes it is as much as a month away, but there are a lot of veterans and there is only so much time. The doctors are very conscientious and thorough. We always have the availability of emergency and examinations, if it is determined that admission is necessary then finding accommodations are found and care is given.
