I am charmed and impressed by the kitty in this little video! Maybe its because, for the first time in my life, I am sharing a home with free-roaming animals: two sweet grandkitties that we have *inherited* from one of our wonderful daughters. (Until now, my husband has disapproved of un-caged pets in our home; and, although pets were kept outside, no animals at all were allowed inside my parents home.) This new experience not only is enjoyable, but is genuinely eye-opening for me. Observing animal behavior, up close and personal definitely has revealed a lot that I had been unable to see before. Its fascinating to watch elements of their personalities show themselves, and to observe evidence of their thought processes! I keep remembering the gist of what Marilyn Vos Savant published in her Ask Marilyn column, in answer to a question submitted to her by a reader. (I had kept the clipping but our fire and/or our flood has done away with it, and I cant find it online, so I apologize for not being able to quote it exactly.) She was asked for her opinion regarding what she considers most impressive or admirable about humankind, and she responded that keeping p e t s is evidence of that quality--that we are the only species that chooses to live with creatures of other species merely for the pleasure of their company!
