I am clueless with numbers, and I dont understand the first thing about algorithms, but if I got it right, I think liking posts of friends is how you keep people coming up on your newsfeed the same way saying hi to them on campus or at the office or in the club ensures that the next time you run into them there will be some interaction, whether the slightest nod of recognition or the most meaningful conversation, but that is up to you as much as it is up to them. I am done with my love/hate phase with Facebook and I mustve since liked posts and friends and links so selectively by instinct honed through a lifetime of choosing worthy friends that, yes, Im pretty happy with what comes up on my newsfeed. Sure, there are some annoyances, but at this point Facebook is pretty much like real life -- lets say the office cafeteria: You run into people you like, you run into people you dont like, you cant ask anyone to leave, so you choose the right table and the right company. If that doesnt still make you happy, isnt that your problem already?
