I am coming around to the view that democracy is a failing system. Democracy pays CEOs of companies millions of dollars as salaries, but allows the arbitary sacking of the rest of the employees every Friday, democracy is a system where white collar criminals are sentenced, after considerable delay, to imprisonment of a few years for siphoning off millions of dollars, democracy is a system where civilian airliners are shot down and no one is punished, democracy is a system where a mere handful earn as much money as the rest of the world population put together, democracy allows a handful to misrule over millions and get away with it, democracy is a system that favours corporate czars and helps finance their vicarious pleasures, democracy allows industrialists to default in millions of dollars, yet will serve loan recovery notices to those whose houses have collapsed for the fault of a builder, democracy helps politicians turn their nations into personal fiefdoms, democracy turns a blind eye to the black money stashed away in Swiss bank accounts but will serve citizens Income Tax notices for accounting errors, democracy breeds underworld dons who loot, pilfer, maim and murder with impunity, then go watch cricket from the stands, it allows elected representatives to rape minors; democracy allows the invasion of neighbouring democratic nations, it is a system that allows a few to rule over many. In return, all of us who live under a democratic system get the exalted right to voice our opinions, which either falls on deaf ears or are consigned to the dustbin.
