I am coming to the conclusion that we cannot rely on the news for staying informed about whats going on in the world-- not even when we use multiple sources and fact-check. The reason is because the mass media these days all copy one another and chase the same few stories, which they present to us in mostly all the same ways. Its a tiny subset of reality but it seems like all there IS! The way they are presented can all be characterized by salesmanship. Whatever is most shocking, gets the biggest rise out of people, or causes the most extreme reaction... thats the definition of good for them. What it ends up achieving (from where Im sitting) is the sense that, according to the news, we arent just GOING to hell in a hand-basket, we are already THERE. That would certainly explain why Im always too hot, wouldnt it? Thats plausibility for you. I thought it was perimenopause, but no; its Hell. Seriously... one could so easily make the mistake of thinking the situation is hopeless because according to the mass media, there is nothing good going on, anywhere, to counteract all this bad they are showcasing.
