I am concluding that social media makes it impossible to be present (the rhyme and reason of any honest yogini), and not only because we are hooked up to the electronic drip all day and night (iphone on the pillow next to you, anyone? I wonder what our kids will look like. Hopefully my feet and his digestive capacities...) but because every time we actually ARE present we feel compelled to whip out our phones and document it. Each time we do it we take something magnificent, that is, the experience of being alive which is only and ever found in the present moment, and we make it something small. The interruption of the moment itself is a travesty. That said, I will be documenting myself being present at dinner tonight. I just hope the peas are on their best behavior and remembered to wear their finest jewels.
