I am confused, and, yes, angry, not so much for myself, because I have sufficient income to get by even when I am screwed by pharmaceutical companies and/or drug stores, and or doctors, and other members of the medical field. I went to the doctor yesterday to have him send off prescriptions for a few medications that I take. Thankfully, I am, basically, a healthy person. One of my medicines, that, for the past five or so years has cost me about ten dollars a month, now costs ALMOST THREE HUNDRED dollars. Whoooaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! I called the company where I buy my medicine and was told it in now on the NON-PREFERRED list. Huh? Who decides what drug is on the PREFERRED or NON-PREFERRED list was my question to the person I was talking to? A group of people, was her answer. Really? Obviously, neither of us knew who the group of people are, so I hung up. Tomorrow, I will call my doctor and tell him to change my medication to one on the PREFERRED list, so I will again be paying ten bucks or so for it. It might not be EXACTLY the same, but its close enough for me.. The woman I was talking to even told me what name to tell him. If he refuses, Ill quit taking the medicine, even if it kills me. By the way, this is not an EXOTIC pill. It is very common. In fact, my doctor gave me a months supply for free. My cost was 50% of the REAL cost that people would have to pay IF THEY DIDNT have insurance, almost SIX HUNDRED dollars. Has the medical field gone crazy? Like I said before, I CAN afford to pay the money, but I feel so sorry for the people living on a lot less than I am, who are saddled with such outrageous fees for their medication. How much worse can things get for the middle class United States citizen before the riots begin?
