I am convinced that some so-called churches should be called - TopicsExpress

I am convinced that some so-called churches should be called houses of worldliness because they make mockery of true Christian morals and standards, denying the principles set by the scriptures themselves; thereby, disillusioning the poor souls that are seeking salvation, truth, and godliness. Instead, they entertain their congregations with a sense of spirituality and self-importance, denying the work of the cross (atonement and redemption) and amplifying self-efforts as if salvation can and should be a work accomplished by self-efforts and spiritual manifestations. In my travels, I pass many so-called churches, which blatantly display billboards hopefully to lure in hungry souls. Hungry for truth yet are given junk food and sugary doctrine, which will never satisfy the soul, and lead to disillusionment and confusion. One such billboard says, “The path of greatness is never easy.” Let me presume the path of stupidity is never easy either, nor the path of arrogance, foolishness, or recklessness. However, this so-called church is advertising “greatness” and presuming that it should be desired, just like the world desires greatness and Satan himself desires such a position (see, Isaiah 14:12-14). “But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister (caregiver); and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant” (Matthew 20:26,27). “For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great” (Luke 9:48). These are the words of Jesus himself (God Almighty, the maker of the heavens and the earth). This same God “made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:7,8). He assumed the position as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. However, these so-called churches deny the truth of godliness and take on the thoughts of Lucifer. ”I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:14). “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace (unmerited favor) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith” (Romans 3:23-27). “For by grace (unmerited favor) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9). “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). Dear reader, isnt it about time that we get serious with the Word of God--not desiring the praises of men, yet desiring that God would be honored and exalted. May it never be said that we exalted ourselves, but may it be said that we reflected Gods glory. “Saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.’ And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, ‘Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.’ And the four beasts said, ‘Amen.’ And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever” (Revelation 5:12-14). “Wherefore, God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). May we look forward to that day. However, today let us bow and honor our Lord. “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof”(Romans 13:14). Amen!
