I am currently going on minute 31 waiting for someone to pick up from customer service to confirm my cancellation and re-booking of a flight on Spirit Airlines. My family booked our flight to San Diego, CA to visit my brother who serves the US Navy. Due to situations elsewhere in the world his leave was revoked at the end of the month and our family was forced to either go now or not see him for another stretch of unknown time. Even though we had purchased insurance, Spirit and its cooperating insurance company does recognize this as a valid reason to allow us to transfer our tickets. In the end we are paying close to $800.00 a person (including our 2 year old daughter) where we had originally bought our tickets for $300. I urge all military families to choose airlines that support military families and the unique situations we proudly accept while our loved ones serve our country! DO NOT CHOOSE SPIRIT!
