I am currently reconsidering many things; not the least of which is the rational mindset. Rationality focuses on concrete observations, working against faith in the unobserved truths and lessening our reliance on God. I have also found that rationalism ultimately leads to nihilism (which rejects any true existence and meaning). Unfortunately, I have seen a moving trend towards this latter philosophy. Rationalism has pervaded our culture for most of its brief existence, but only in the last few decades has this devolution become prominent. When meaning is lost, so goes hope. When hope goes, so ascends despair. Despair leads into chaos. Rationality has its place, but not as a replacement for faith or the seeking of the mystical qualities of truth and revelation.
