I am deeply concerned about the lack of public health outreach - TopicsExpress

I am deeply concerned about the lack of public health outreach from the Center for Disease Control in response to the heightened threat from Ebola in the US. Today’s Energy and Commerce Hearing demonstrated that our top public health officials still have not adequately gathered and disseminated best practices to protect our public health. Fortunately we have great examples of preparedness here in central Kentucky. I would like to thank our local hospitals for taking proactive steps to be prepared for the ebola virus, and I will share these efforts with the CDC, the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health so that our country might benefit from these good ideas. kentucky/2014/10/15/3482858/kentucky-hospitals-changing-procedures.html This month, I also joined many of my colleagues to demand that President Obama consider quarantines for individuals who traveled to or from affected countries and direct the State Department “to impose a travel ban and restrict travel visas issued to citizens of the West African countries experiencing this epidemic, until such countries have defeated the epidemic.” I will continue to demand that our agencies take the steps necessary to protect our citizens.
