I am delighted, happy, relieved and excited to say that beautiful baby Joshua has gotten through his trial period with flying colours.. Hes not coming back.. I was worried about this chap, as he was like no other puppy we have ever had; he had some very quirky idiosyncrasies that made me think he was bordering on the autism spectrum. ( well known and recorded in the dog world). I wrung my hands and shed tears, I wondered what would happen when he left the only world he would remember and felt safe in..here with us..as when taken out of his comfort zone he froze..he panicked and he was like a statue..every time. I worked and worked with him.. baby steps..lots of love, lots of treats too, he is very food motivated.. He came into the rescue as a discarded 2 week old puppy.. A very kind young man, Joshua, grabbed this weak and tired little baby to give to us, then Rhiannon did what she does best; she took care of this weenie puppy, feeding him formula, every 2 hours, day and night. Her partner Dave and his parents did their share too.. between them, they are the reason this pup is alive... Joshua ( the puppy!) came to us at 3 weeks of age, and I just continued where Rhiannon left off..loving, nurturing and watching this funny, special little guy bloom.. The day came we had to let him go.. I shed more tears, as how I loved that little guy..we had a real bond, and it hurt to make him go away.. Well.. he has his very own happily ever after.. and he has really been the bravest boy in town! We are very grateful to his new owners who listened and understood what I was saying about Josh, they got it.. His Mum says he settled well; I sent his bed, heaps of bedding, lots of toys, several night time teddies, more than we usually send off, as I knew he needed his stuff, his possessions, to feel safe. His Mum said sending the bed definitely worked, he liked that. So..our special, intelligent, funny and charming little Josh now has a wonderful life where he will continue to develop, continue to learn new things and continue to be brave and strong.. Well done beautiful boy.. I am SO proud of you.. Happy days..
