I am desperate for free legal advice about custody and family law. I have found myself at a point where I no longer have an attorney, for lack of funds. I have exhausted all possibilities with that scenario. The bill is just astronomical. Without getting too personal, I will say that I have been sandbagged. My civil rights have been trampled all over, and I have been crushed in court. I am dealing with an unethical GAL, and I wont have any power until I can speak directly to the judge. I am in a position where my authority as a parent has been completely disregarded, because the people whom paid the GALs bill are now running the show, and they are so desperate to defame my character to anyone and everyone whom will listen that this attorney (GAL) has turned me from the plaintiff to the defendant in a little over a months time. I have never had to represent myself in a court of law before, and now I am forced to. I will lose my daughter if I fail to present the facts of my case to Judge Garcia of the Will County Circuit Court. It is my opinion that this judge does not have any idea what is going on with my case, because this unethical GAL has kept all of the finite details of the case from him. She is supposed to be his eyes and ears, but shes not been reporting anything to him. I find myself straddled by, status dates, emotional blackmail, (I believe) and the fact that according to Illinois Pro bono dot org: (a site devoted to training volunteer attorneys) GALs will tend to side with the person/people who pay their fees; (this is justified by saying that they believe those people are invested most in the case, but what about single moms whom just do not have the $17K laying around?) and in this case, my parents and aunt have paid her bill. Anyhow, I am seeking advice on how to approach the court, speak to the judge, and become my own lawyer, overall. Anyone who has experience doing so; attorney pals, or other parents whom have been through something like this, please send me a private message. I appreciate any help/advice I can get.
