I am developing an upper-level undergraduate course on Second - TopicsExpress

I am developing an upper-level undergraduate course on Second Temple Jewish history and literature. My students are primarily interested in this area as context for the New Testament, though I hope to get them beyond seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls, Josephus, etc. simply as context. I want my course to be heavy in primary source readings, though my students will read Larry Helyers EXPLORING JEWISH LITERATURE OF THE SECOND TEMPLE PERIOD (IVP, 2002) and Joel Green and Lee Martin McDonalds THE WORLD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT (Baker, 2013). My question: Which texts/portions of texts do you think are most interesting, important, or otherwise worth requiring my students to read? (My students will be reading all these texts in English translation.) Happy New Year to everyone.
