I am excited, we finally have lift off to Vanuatu, so Ednah lavro look out for good things in parcels coming your way. The courier picked up the boxes this morning and they are on their way to CT Freight at Eagle Farm airport in Brisbane, where I have been working with Les Done to get the details and nitty gritty done, needed to get our precious packages flapping their little wings to Espiritu Santo and into Ednah’s waiting hands Have a look at the photos which show the bulk of what is coming. There are 3 hand operated singer sewing machines, one donated by Ian and Elizabeth Gray Edwards and the other 2 by Megan and Walter Scott. Ednah please note that the boxes are labelled, 1,2 and 3 – the reason is that inside one of the other boxes are smaller boxes or kits containing sewing kits and they are specific to each machine as each machine has its own specific bobbins, so its important for each machine to have the right kit Each kit has: Screwdrivers and a brush for adjusting and cleaning the machine A bottle of machine oil, plus smaller one with a fine dropper top – to regulate the oil so that just enough is applied. There is also a letter with each machine with instructions on how often to oil etc A scissor kit for each machine containing 4 various types of scissors Sewing pins and safety pins 30 machine needles and hand sewing needles Metal bobbins and a bobbin case 1 metre tape measures and a retractable tape measure Fabric pen markers Assorted reels of cotton thread Stitch rippers, thimbles and needle threaders Buttons and haberdashery Long handled tweezers Instruction book and a leaflet from Cyndy Kitt with a parts price list Torch for threading the machine as it does not have a light being non electric As well there are approximately 10 hand knitted /crocheted blankets, knitted by Pearl Phipps and Peggy Mitchell and helpers from the knitters group at the Nanango library and assembled and crocheted around by Megan Scott 18 cotton, acrylic and woollen hand knitted baby jackets, 33 cotton baby singlets, 5 dozen terry towelling nappies and 144 nappy pins Megan Scott 17 carry bags from various sources and assorted ladies clothing, baby items and pillowcases from Elizabeth Gray Edwards 1 carton of assorted cotton fabrics - Megan Scott Additionally approximately 12 baby jackets, 12 singlets, 10 premmie bub beanies and bootie sets were given to Chrissy in May when we visited as well as some backpacks, colouring in books, pencils and an Accu check glucose meter, lancets and test strips and medications And last but not least much thanks to Janey O’Keefe and the ladies who assisted in getting together the funding to transport all of this lot, about 102 kg altogether I am very appreciative of the help to do so – I don’t personally know you all but I am extremely thankful that I can at last get this to Ednah so that it can be USED! Amen
