I am fast becoming a Danish fan ...the country, not the pastry, - TopicsExpress

I am fast becoming a Danish fan ...the country, not the pastry, though I love that too. The small Nordic nation of 5.6 million strives to be completely fossil-free by 2050, including even its transportation sector. Theres a good chance that neighboring nations with big coal interests, like Germany will do their best to lower coal export prices in order to milk what is left of the burning desire for fossil fuels. Absent cheap coal, sustainable alternatives will be more than price competitive long before 2050, possibly by 2025, according to the Danes. I hope Europe has the good sense to encourage this noble challenge. There will be economic discomfort for many during the transition- but long term, world class leadership in renewable energy will make all of Europe stronger. I dont think many of my countrymen agree with me on this, but I see Obamas out-reach to China at this moment exemplifying the same kind of farsighted bravery. (I am no expert, but I am a student of such flows moments of flow caused by technology that enables social innovation. I think this could be one of them. Go for it!
