I am feeling rather expansive and sharing tonight. So for those of you have not seen this...here ya go. (Dont get too depressed about it.) This is something that actually happened to me quite a few years ago when I was younger. I have no idea why, but it touched me deeply, and some time later, I felt the urge to write about it. This is some of my first work, many years ago... The Seagull A seagull died on the beach today. I was there. I know. I saw. I looked around for another witness, But there was none to be found. A seagull died on the beach today, It was just a babe, poor thing. There was no death march drum roll, No tolling bell did ring. It wilted like a fresh picked rose, Then fell right down and died. I dont know why, perhaps my mood, But I sat right down an cried. I shook my fist, and cursed the sky, There was no reason, there was no rhyme. It was just a bird, a baby bird, Surely guilty of no crime. Perhaps it was a gentle reminder, To watch this bird pass over. Perchance it was a message sent, Remember, thou art mortal.
