I am feeling really great about the momentum of the Bay Are music scene. That being said I do have a comment about the price of admission. It saddens me to see FREE & $5.00 shows advertised by talented musicians. If we do not value ourselves how can we expect others to? I compare this to having a beautiful house worth a $100,000.00 and offering it up for $50,000.00, much like Real Estate you bring property values down. In addition, you are a lost leader bringing in people to the venue to drink, which should be rewarded! It is up to bands to do their share of marketing & bringing people to the venues as well, if you sit back & wait after you book a gig good luck. It takes a village as they say. I appreciate venues that look at actual bar sales & reward the bands who increase sales in addition to the regular contract be it a guarantee or door split . The more we support venues that work as team with the bands the better we will all be.
