I am fifth generation Cherokee, Cree? And Osage. I dont know where the Cree name is from I was just told that my ggg granfather was Cree. My gggggrandmother was involved with her 10 children in the Trail of Tears her husband and one son didnt live thru it. They were living in Boone County Ark. At the time and they all went thru but the two I mentioned. I have a cousin whos written a book about it all and have been told there are seven of them written by various others, they ended up settling on 160 a cres in Taney County Branson Mo. Before it was called Branson. The story goes that my fifth granma was kidnapoed at around 3 years of age, she was a identical twin. These white people wanted a baby girl child so they took her in the night, she never knew why she was so different than the younger two children who were light and blondish. But later in life her older Bro. Did find her just before she died. Her husband kept her safe as he could from other indians for she did show her color well. She had taken some grain in town to get it ground into meal and some men attacked her took her stuff from her and she finally got away from them til her wagon wheel broke and somehow a gear flew up into her back and she never could walk again so her older 2 girls raised the remaining children. She lived a while after the accident and was buried on the outside area of the family cemetery she married into. This was done then because Indians were not allowed to be buried with Whites then I was told. Her children all but one stayed in the general area thru out most their lives. Recently I ran across a cousin whos Mother is my Gggrandmothers brother, shes around 98 yrs. Old and parts if her estate was still in this family. The Government bought her out to put in the Lake dam there in Bransin in the sum over a million dollars. Shes now living in Washington with her only child whos in her 70s. I really got into doing this research that my Dad had started doing when he got sick. He would love to know about the whole thing as it turned out.
