I am finished with cancer treatments. I had four months of chemotherapy before surgery because when I was diagnosed in September, 2013 I had a virtually invisible tumor because of dense breast and 20 cancerous lymph nodes....stage IIIC breast cancer. January 2nd, 2014 was my last chemo infusion of Taxol which left me with lingering bone pain and peripheral neuropathy. EVERY DAY bone pain and numbness and tingling in my hands and feet! Chemo has also left me with chemotherapy induced cognitive impairment. ( memory problems, concentration problems, attention problems, etc.). Surgery was January 24th, 2014. A double mastectomy and 20 lymph nodes removed ( 5 still positive for cancer) from the right underarm and around the right breast area. This has left me with significant scarring, nerve damage and severe numbness of the right underarm and halfway down my right arm, lymphedema that is manageable but not curable, and constant PAIN in the right arm. When I say constant, I mean it! Nothing seems to take it away. It was made worse because I had to have radiation to that area. Radiation that lasted until in April. (I cant remember the date). The pain in the right arm is made worse also by overuse and air travel (which I found out last week.) My fatigue is horrible. I cry at the drop of a hat! I may look fine and a picture of health, but at this time, I still can not work. That frustrates me. Im having to readjust my life to a new normal. But somehow it just doesnt seem normal to me. Please pray for me that I will be able to accept what God has given me.
