I am for a democratic socialist society run in the interests of people not millionaires, for bringing into democratic public ownership the major companies and banks that dominate the economy, so that production and services can be planned to meet the needs of all and to protect the environment. The EU does not do any of these things if we look at Greece as a case in point. Austerity has been undemocratically imposed upon them by the Troika (IMF, EU Central Bank/Commission) and the austerity has led Greece to become on the level of a third-world country; not to mention the growth of Far-right parties like golden dawn who are physically assaulting migrant etc. and much more. On an economic level, a currency union does not really work because they are trying to unite 29 different economies which would have different interest rates etc. into one homogeneous block. This has led to the massive austerity programmes which are hurting the poor in all European countries. Lastly, I do not believe that UKIP offer an alternative because would ultimately bring a more racist austerity and they would do much wors than what Tories are doing right now. I would try and create a Socialist alternative to Europe, or, in the long-term, world country will a planned economy.
