I am glad that Senator Schumer is pushing for a clean up plan for the Tonawanda Landfill. I remember visiting that site with Former DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis. The residents in that community have been living next to that toxic dump for over 50 years. I am also humbled by the actions taken on Tonawanda Coke, Tonawanda Landfill, Broderick Park, the Bigger Better Bottle Bill and Electronic Recycling and other environmental issues that I have championed and/or supported. It tickles when I see these formally controversial ideas now being treated as common sense policy measures. Reducing the amount of televisions and computers in landfills, returning water bottles to the store, and requiring BPA or toxic free baby bottles were hard fought victories in our state and region. solidarity for justice and equality
