I am glad the Justice Department is investigating possible civil charges, despite how little faith I have these days in anything governmental. I completely agree with the sentiments of staying honorable, working harder, etc., but I also feel that Zimmerman needs to be held personally accountable in some way for the evil he has done. And, quite honestly, sometimes "progress" is hard to see. Yes, more laws (although, now, fewer laws) outlawing discrimination, but in our heart of hearts, how much has changed? I still have people say things to me - white person to white person - that they would never say in public or to a person of color. Or just in my office, referring to my office manager as "your girl." I always say something, but, if you actually believe that huge amounts of progress have been made, why am I even dealing with this in the very selective world of my business?
