I am glad to announce a new partnership between The California - TopicsExpress

I am glad to announce a new partnership between The California Conference for Equality and Justice, South Coast Interfaith Council and Building Healthy Communities: Long Beach. Together we will host a series of Faith Based Community Inclusion Circles. Community Inclusion Circles will create opportunities to build relationships through the power of community. In circle we will explore our own experiences to build a more inclusive community support system. Learn about restorative justice practices and infuse them into discussions, problem solving and community building. Throughout the series you will have an opportunity to be trained and certified in circle keeping. We would like to invite you to save the date and join our first Faith Based Community Inclusion Circles. Location graciously donated by the Long Beach Islamic Center. August 13th, 2014 5:30pm to 8pm Long Beach Islamic Center 1525 Long Beach Blvd. Long Beach, CA 90813. There is no criteria to participate. The circles will have a circle keeper trained in restorative practices and help set the circle guidelines, get the circle going and step back into the participant role so that the circle can organically grow. Prompts in the circle are various and often light and low risk. Circles hold very deep conversations as they allow participants to move the conversation. The magic of a circle brings people together affording community to develop without being facilitated. This project is made possible due to the support of the California Endowment. To RSVP, please contact Christopher Covington at (562)435-8184 ext.221.
