I am going to ask all my friends on facebook for a HUGE favor and that is over the next week PLEASE talk to as many people as you can and tell them how dangerous it is to go around railroad gates or to walk along the tracks. Every trip I make as a Amtrak Locomotive Engineer and also when I would ride on the head end while I was in Management for 13 years there were very few trips in which at least 1 car did not cross in front of us. Even though at 79mph it will take us less then 10 seconds to clear a crossing they will still take a needless chance. The video below I found on youtube was uploaded by the Canton Police Department in 2009 and gives you exactly the same view the engineer had. The result of this was 4 deaths and a Amtrak crew who will never forget that event. It was very sad and to be honest I hate to even post this video but if this does not make you talk to your children and friends about the danger of going around crossing gates nothing will. youtube/watch?v=DOPtw5ZLX_c
