I am going to be a bummer and say that I find it hard at this point to feel happy about the Day of the Dead, as I usually do, because of the horror that is going down hourly in Mexico. The entire country. Innocent people, sometimes--more than sometimes--scores of them at once, kidnapped, tortured, skinned alive, their heads left on the streets to scare others. Honest and good politicians, journalists, protesters, the few ethical police, anyone who dares try to speak out or fight against the cartels, they and/or their families are tortured and dumped and flayed and hung out in public. The bad guys have won, and they are way more than your average oppressors. And now ISIS has slaughtered possibly hundreds in one fell swoop--again--and are enslaving women, and torturing and so much else. There too, the bad guys have won. There is no cleaning this up. It is pure carnage. If you think I am exaggerating, you are not following what is going on, and has been going on for years. I just cannot celebrate death today. elblogdelnarco.org
