I am going to be a very unpopular person for posting this, and I know that everyone loved Maleficent. Im truly not trying to make anyone feel bad about their liking it, and Im not the kind of person that thinks that everyone should share my opinion. I finally broke down and saw it, after being very reluctant to do so, because Im not a fan of Angelina Jolie. But I went, deciding to be completely open minded and to ignore the fact that she bothers me. It wasnt Angelina Jolie that bothered me, however, - It was the fact that my favorite childhood fairytale was BUTCHERED. Maybe I am too much of a Disney traditionalist, but, it did upset me. I dont think the story needed that much changing. I am o.k. with villians being what they truly are in stories - villains - no explanation needed. Maleficent was my favorite villain, actually. And, it does make me wonder what Walt Disney would think about this movie as well. It has some charming parts that I truly enjoyed, but overall, Im mostly upset. Im going to have to watch the original animated version now, to make myself feel better again...
